about

"The Playground" is an ensemble's improvisation. It is an observation of human interactions and behavior. At different moments in this piece, while following their instinct, four characters join force or separate each other in order to access the object of their desire. Curiosity, compassion and cruelty are a few of the resulting emotional states that each characters experience as individual facing the pressure of society. They engage each other into role games, testing each others characters, strengths and weaknesses.

"The Playground" is also the name to a specific improvisation concept that Corps Multiple developed in 2018. The primary goal was to develop a system that allows all different art medium to engage each other into a spontaneous conversation. The principal element being space itself is shared by all participants. What you hear in this recording is only half of the improvisation as we miss the visual part of the improvisation. However, you are hearing the sonic improvisation that was created using the space of the theater according to a set of rules that all participants use to communicate their intentions.

In this first movement, three characters enter stage in various points and evolved independently from each other until the main character of (UN)ROOTED, the orphan takes center stage.
